UPDATE: November 21, 2019 - Permanently Closed.
It's a little bit divey, it's a little bit hipster, and it's a little bit little ... but it's real big on amazing sushi, plus there's CBD Infused Tea, along with Kava, and Kratom—everything today's modern customer needs! Head up 4th St. North, hang a right on 62nd Ave N., and it's a little bit up on the left. When I first pulled into the parking lot, I have to be honest—I almost pulled back out. There's a dicey looking convenience store, and I'm not feeling too sure about the neighborhood, but I have a duty to perform. If you get that feeling, put it aside like I did as it's a real cool place. We did get a couple of "out there" customers from "the other side of the tracks", but it was a little added entertainment to the great food, and super nice staff.
Green Light Bar has a hip vibe, excellent sushi, and quite an extensive menu for a small place. Food-wise, the focus is on sushi rolls, sashimi, and rice bowls, but there are also salads, soups, and appetizers.
The owners are Irma Radosavljevic, and Angel Alonzo. Nini, the sushi chef has 15-years of experience making sushi.
There's outdoor seating and games, a pool table and lounge area inside.
Craig, the General Manager, and Nini spent a couple of hours with me explaining the unique items while I kept eating and eating. The food was all of the utmost quality and flavor. I immensely enjoyed it.
We started with the namesake Green Light Roll - Smoked salmon, cream cheese, asparagus topped with avocado, seaweed salad, green and red tobiko then drizzled with spicy mayo and eel sauce.
Next up was the Volcano Don - Krab mixed with salmon, escolar, white fish, masago and spicy mayo baked to perfection then topped with spicy mayo, eel sauce, scallions and sesame seeds.
Continuing on with the Voodoo Doll Roll - Spicy crawfish, avocado, masago topped with spicy krab, eel sauce, spicy mayo, hot sauce and scallions.
The Nobunaga Roll - Tuna, salmon, escolar, avocado topped with broiled eel, truffle oil, masago and scallions.
The Chicken Wrapped Brie was quite a unique and tasty item.
Here it is sliced opened - prosciutto, brie, apple, mushroom & asparagus.
But we didn't stop there. We kept going with the Kani Salad - Shredded krab mixed with spicy mayo, masago and scallions served on a bed of cucumber curls then topped with avocado and sesame seeds.
If you want to get really fancy, there is the Ooh La La Roll - Roast duck, avocado, asparagus and sesame seeds topped with seared foie gras, sturgeon caviar, edible gold flakes and scallions then drizzled with pomegranate glaze.
Be sure to try the CBD infused tea, which comes from SteepFuze in Colorado. The teas include Citron Green, Black Blend, and Hibiscus Berry.
Other beverages include coffee, wine, and beer. (No liquor.)
Vegan options include; Sweet Potato Roll, Avocado Roll, "Vegan Fare" includes - Avocado roll, cucumber roll and veggie roll.
They have trivia night every Wednesday, and live music on weekends.
Divey, hipster, good vibe bar with excellent sushi & sashimi. Pool table, live bands, games and lounge.
