I Found Gluten-Free Ravioli at Annata Wine Bar

Who doesn’t love Annata Wine Bar, right? You know you will get fresh, inspired cuisine every time. We had not been in quite a while and were both craving some fabulously gourmet fare and nice wine pairings. We went down on a Saturday night around 8 o’clock. Of course it was jam-packed in there, and the wait was an hour and a half! Yikes! I was disappointed because I had my heart set on eating there. I should have known better though, haha. Thankfully the rain had just stopped and they were trying to get the outside set back up. After about 30 minutes, they were able to seat us outside instead. They do have air conditioners on the patio so it made the temperature and humidity bearable. It was fairly dark outside, as you can tell from the photos, but all this to say, it’s a small trade-off to be able to enjoy some amazing food!

They were understandably very busy, so we were looking for something small to snack on to unwind while we waited. We ordered the herb infused Spanish almonds for a light appetizer as we sipped our wine. You wouldn’t think almonds roasted in olive oil and fresh herbs would be that good, but trust me they are! Try them next time you are there. They’re addictive!

When we got our menus, I quickly looked to see that they still had the Chicken and Kale Ravioli, and thank God they did! Oh yes, I’m talking about REAL gluten-free ravioli here, folks. When I was first told this ravioli was gluten-free, I was shocked. These raviolis are made with rice flour and tapioca starch so even this corn-free gal could have them! The ravioli is filled with chicken and kale and it is served in a bowl of parmesan broth with diced red peppers, herbs, microgreens and a dash of freshly grated parmesan. The ravioli itself was done so well. They were like little pillows of Italian goodness that melted in your mouth. Divine. It was served with a spoon so you could get a bite of the chicken ravioli with a spoonful of the scrumptious broth each time. I was in heaven.

My husband ordered the Ahi Tuna entree. Now, Stephen absolutely loves Ahi Tuna, so for a restaurant to do this fish justice is a big deal to him. Needless to say, he was very happy with his choice. The tuna is served with an avocado and seaweed salad and a balsamic-soy reduction sauce. The crispy vermicelli noodles spiraled on top was a stunning sight. It was truly a work of art on the plate!

As if we needed more rich food to fill our full bellies, we happily ordered the flourless chocolate cake, I’m always happy to find an allergy-friendly dessert while dining out. This “cake” is served with whipped cream, fresh strawberries, little bits of chocolate, and cocoa powder dusted on the plate. If you need a chocolate fix, this is the dessert that’ll hit the spot. It’s so rich that we even had a hard time finishing it! Of course . . . somehow we managed. Haha! Another amazing dining experience in the books.
