Cassis Bakery Review Nov 2018

Brace yourself, I found my favorite bakery in St. Pete! Cassis Bakery is located in the bustling part of downtown right on Beach Drive. You’ll love it here if you’re looking for a leisurely atmosphere to munch on a sweet treat or sip on a delicious latte. Right away, you’ll be greeted with the delightful aroma of freshly baked cookies, pastries, cakes and more.

Cassis Bakery

Cassis Bakery is a French inspired bakery with a mix of American traditions as well. They create a variety of desserts, made fresh daily, with a passionate attention to flavor and presentation. When you first walk in you’ll notice how many different choices there are and if you have any questions, the staff is extremely knowledgable and helpful!

I suggest The Cassis with black current mousse, champagne gelée and golden velvet cake making it sweet, light and delicious all around. It originally caught my attention because of how beautiful it was on display and then hearing that it’s one of the most popular items here. This is a must-try if you love a cake with flavor! Also, the whipped cream on top was thick and creamy with a hint of vanilla.

Another notable item is The Normandy with praline cream, hazelnut candy for a slight crunch, chocolate cake and chocolate mousse to make up the rest. The french chocolate used is rich, creamy and filling. If you love chocolate as much as I do, this is for you!

The crème brûlée was phenomenal. The Tahitian vanilla bean custard filling was chilled and creamy, perfectly paired with the caramelized sugar on top for the perfect light crunch. You won’t find better crème brûlée in St. Pete!

We tried the Carrot and the Opera cakes and I couldn’t decide which one I liked better, all I knew is that I wanted more of both! The carrot cake was delicious with the perfect carrot consistency. The cream was fresh and delightful to break up the cake. All together, the perfect taste and texture for a carrot cake! The Opera cake is another French inspired menu item with coffee soaked sponge cake, chocolate ganache and hazelnut feullentine. This is every chocolate and coffee lovers dream cake!

You can also order a full cake size which might be something to keep in mind to impress at your next holiday party!

The Macarons are the best grab and go dessert here. The most important thing to note about macarons is the cookie-to-filling ratio. Here, Cassis goes above and beyond to deliver some of the best tasting macarons I’ve ever had. They have 6 flavors to choose from: chocolate, vanilla, pistachio, raspberry, Cassis and lemon. With that first bite, you’ll know that the pastry shell is the perfect crisp texture with the right amount of air and softness. The filling is not too sweet and adds to the fun! I had the chocolate and raspberry, they were a great duo.

Moving on to their homemade ice cream, I had their most popular flavors Mint Chocolate Chip and Cookie Dough. I was thoroughly impressed by the Cookie Dough as every single bite had a piece of gooey and soft cookie dough. I will admit that I wasn’t too crazy with the Mint Chip, but I know that’s a favorite to many! I also had a sample of the Coconut sorbet which was sweet and creamy.

We also tried two truffles, the Amaretto and the Chocolate. Truffles are small yet very filling with thick, rich french chocolate. You’ll probably one want 1 or 2 since it really is a lot of chocolate!

The perfect thing about Cassis, is that if you’re not in the mood for dessert, you can still enjoy one of their melt-in-your-mouth croissants. They’re fluffy, buttery, and flaky. They have options if you’re looking for a full breakfast sandwich or something simple. See the menu below.

It being a semi-chilly day in Florida, I got myself a Latte with mocha. They did a brilliant job with design and taste. It was picture perfect and hit the spot with all of these desserts.

My Aunt got her signature coffee drink, an iced mocha. It was refreshing, sweet and delicious.
