Become a True Local at Black Crow Coffee Shop in St. Pete

When I think of St. Pete, I instantly think of a unique, local community full of talented people. Add locally roasted coffee to that mix and you’ve got Black Crow Coffee Shop. A true hidden gem, located in historic Old Northeast surrounded by houses and brick roads, this coffee shop is like no other. From the local art hanging on the walls to the delicious coffee and pastry options, the entire atmosphere and aesthetic expresses St. Pete.

Each time I visit Black Crow, there is always something going on, which makes it fun and different. I wouldn’t be able to sit and do work here because of the distractions, but there are plenty of people behind laptops if you prefer that type of environment. In my opinion, this would be an awesome place to bring out-of-towners to introduce them to what this city is all about: art, coffee, zero waste, and community.

I came for coffee and left with way more than that. On my first visit here, I got my typical iced coffee with almond milk along with an everything bagel with vegan cream cheese, and my favorite Katie’s Good Salted Belgium Chocolate Chunk Cookie.

Their iced coffee was the perfect drink to pair with my everything bagel and cookie. It was simple, smooth and light. This is my go-to drink of choice at every coffee shop and I was very satisfied!

The everything bagel was great and I tried vegan cream cheese for the first time, because why not! I couldn’t taste that much of a difference from dairy cream cheese, so I wouldn’t mind having that more often.

The Salted Belgium Chocolate Chunk Cookie is my ultimate favorite cookie out there. It is so chocolatey and salty, it’s a great treat for all of your tastebuds. Katie’s Goods is a local company and can be found all around St. Pete.

On another visit, I was advised to try their Chai tea latte. They make the Chai concentrate in-house so I was excited to try it. It was delicious! The spices were calming and comforting and create a smooth and sweet cinnamon flavor.

I stopped in around lunch time and got their cold brew with almond milk, it was refreshing and the perfect afternoon pick-me-up. I was hungry and decided to try a Southern Bay croissant. They had 3 flavors, tomato and spinach and feta, spinach and ricotta, and plain. I tried the tomato, spinach and feta croissant.

This croissant was huge and so tastey! The crust was buttery and flakey and the inside was packed with tomato, spinach and feta. Each bite I took I was able to taste all three ingredients. It filled me up for the rest of the day. I highly recommend trying one of these if you’re hungry!

They have an extensive Cafe Dolce menu with sweet, fun and unique combinations. I knew I had to try one eventually, and I asked the barista for their most popular one: Banana Mocha. I got it iced, but you can choose to get in hot too! They have flavors like peppermint mocha, caramel, vanilla bean, purple haze and almond.

Although I LOVE sweets, and chocolate, this Iced Banana Mocha was almost too sweet for me! It has espresso, almond milk, banana and chocolate. During the first sips, I enjoyed the rich flavors and the crazy amount of chocolate. I loved that it tasted like a milkshake but I wasn’t able to drink the entire thing.

It’s almost impossible to deny the pastries here, I mean look at that donut! This vegan and gluten-free double chocolate donut was so good. I couldn’t tell it was vegan or gluten-free which says a lot! They have a variety of flavors like Key Lime, Double Chocolate and Chocolate Coco. I wish I had a huge glass of milk to dunk this in, but alone it was still delicious. This donut is the perfect Sunday morning treat!

Vanilla Bean with Soy Milk

I decided to try something hot and different so I ordered the Vanilla Bean with soy milk. This simple drink is often overlooked, but is so delicious. The vanilla bean was so comforting and simple to sip on that I decided to order something sweet to munch on with it.

Banana Nut Muffin

The banana nut muffin is a must-try! I couldn’t believe how good it was and it hit the spot. The banana chips on top are sugar coated to perfection. The base of the muffin was moist and fresh. You can also have them warm it up for you which I definitely recommend! They have other options like blueberry, chocolate and cranberry.
