Buoy’s Waterfront Bar & Grille Offers Relaxed Beach Dining

Everything about Buoy’s Waterfront Bar & Grill feels tropical down to the food, cocktails, interior and views. Offering brunch, lunch and dinner daily, it’s all about the fresh ingredients and made from scratch sauces and strong drinks here. It’s super casual, in a good way, meaning you can roll up after a long day at the beach and it’ll be fine.

The two breezy outdoor patios are ideal for dolphin watching while sipping on a boozy cocktail. With Florida’s rainy season approaching, you can stay dry at the ground level patio and bar area, or just head upstairs to their enclosed seating where you’ll find another bar. They also have a wonderful outdoor patio space upstairs that looks out to the water. What I’m really trying to get at is that there’s a lot of options on where to sit and I’d recommend trying to get a seat near the water for the salty air and view.

Buoy’s offers a brunch and lunch/dinner menu with a plethora of yummy options. Visiting Buoy’s with my family was perfect since we all ordered something different and I was able to try a lot of the menu items. At brunch, it’s all about the avocado toast and then the fresh gulf grouper sandwich at dinner, plus a smattering of other tasty options.

The Buoy Shrimp is an absolute must to start with. It’s crispy fried shrimp, sweet and spicy Buoy sauce and pickled fennel. The light crispiness and smothered homemade sauce really drew me in. We couldn’t stop oohing and aahing over this one.

For another crunchy appetizer, the Kung Pow Calamari did the trick with flash fried calamari, carrots, chilis and cashews. Warning: the chili that I consumed almost ruined my entire meal, it was out of this world spicy. I was the only one at the table that experienced this, but I really think my tongue almost started a fire that’s how hot it was. Just be careful friends. The main attraction, the calamari, was very good and I would still order this again, just without the chili peppers.

Why do you always find yourself craving a grouper sandwich after a beach day? We’ll leave that up to science. It’s pretty standard, but the Fresh Gulf Grouper Sandwich comes either grilled, blackened or fried and is topped with lettuce, tomato, pickle and tartar sauce. With each handheld menu item you get a choice of side from fries to brussels sprouts, tropical slaw, coconut rice and more.

The Fresh Gulf Grouper Sandwich at Buoy’s was delicious and perfectly seasoned. Though it ended up getting a little messy, it’ll definitely hit the spot for those post-beach cravings. The tropical slaw is very refreshing and a smooth texture with bits of crunch.

My Aunt Karen enjoyed the Pork Dip with slow roasted pork loin shaved thinly, provolone cheese, chipotle aioli and cajun jus. The melted cheese looks like something I would quickly inhale. She really enjoyed it!

Fish tacos are the grub you need if you’re looking to reel in a good meal. At Buoy’s they’re prepared grilled, blackened or fried with spicy cabbage, pickled radish and cilantro lime crema. Crunchy batter surrounds fresh grouper or white fish, your choice, but the fried and blackened fresh grouper below were both wonderful and pack a few crave worthy bites.

Looking for a refreshing bite with some zest and sweetness? Then the Caribbean Chicken Sandwich is for you. The marinated and grilled chicken is topped with a vibrant and fresh mango slaw with a drizzle of their mango sriracha sauce. Overall, this was a 10/10.

On the Entree section of the menu, we ordered the Seafood Fra Diavolo with linguine, shrimp, grouper, calamari, muscles, scallops and a spicy marinara sauce. Unsurprisingly, this pasta dish blew us out of the water. Beyond the seafood and spice, the second best part was the toasted garlic bread.

Buoy’s is also a great place to fuel up before a day at the beach with their decadent brunch.

The Avocado Toast stood out to me and I’m so glad I ordered it. This heavenly dish comes with poached eggs and smashed avocado stacked on some of the most scrumptious herbed ciabatta toast ever. The side of potatoes had a nice crisp outside and a warm, soft inside.

Aunt Karen ordered the Old School Hash which is a 1/2 pound of homemade corned beef hash, 2 eggs, potatoes and rye toast. She was really happy with it and we both agreed that we’d be back to try more of their brunch menu items.

I can’t remember which cocktail I ordered but it was very fruity and sweet!
