As I’ve sipped my way around a few coffee shops in the burg, I’ve made a list of the most important things to look out for when talking atmosphere and vibe: good seating options, noise level, available outlets, WiFi and of course, staff friendliness. Gypsy Souls outshines in all of these categories. The staff is generous and helpful with suggestions and answering questions. If you plan on staying a while whether its to catch up with a friend or get work done, the seating options are great with indoor and outdoor choices. They have outlets and WiFi which is a huge plus for working remotely for the day.
Now, let’s talk coffee! Their menu is extensive with various coffee options such as iced coffee, cold brew, latte, americano, espresso and more! They also have frappes in different flavors like mocha, caramel, vanilla and green tea matcha. If you’re in the mood for a healthier option, they offer smoothies made with greek yogurt. Not a coffee lover? They also have Tebella Teas, chai lattes and green tea matcha. In all, they really do have something for everyone!
First time in I played it safe with an iced coffee with almond milk. This is my typical go-to coffee drink everywhere I go! This was their Brazil light roast, with a pleasant almond aroma, red fruit and cinnamon taste. This is great if you’re looking for a simple cup of coffee with natural flavors. I also tried it as a hot coffee because I couldn’t decide what I was in the mood for that day! It was just as good!
Cold brew has been one of the latest trends for coffee shops in the past few years. What’s so special about it? Well, instead of pouring hot coffee over ice (AKA iced coffee) it’s coffee that’s brewed for 12 to 24 hours with room temperature or cold water. Many will say that cold brew tastes fresh and less watered down. The cold brew at Gypsy Souls is their Indonesian blend, brewed overnight. Trying this a few days after their iced coffee, I definitely tasted the difference as it seemed more rich and flavorful. I added almond milk again because that’s my personal favorite “creamer”.
I decided to give their Latte a go one morning and I was very satisfied! Sometimes a warm drink with espresso and steamed milk is the best way to start the day, or to overcome that afternoon slump. The latte was simple and delicious, smooth and divine and gave me the energy I needed!
For the holiday season they have a delicious peppermint mocha that you have to try! It put me right into the Christmas spirit, which is sometimes hard to do in Florida. The peppermint to mocha ratio was spot on with just the right amount of flavors for both. The presentation was perfect with whipped cream, chocolate syrup and red sprinkles. Its okay to indulge on a sweet, festive drink this winter, and I would recommend trying their iced peppermint mocha!
Being in the holiday spirit also means enjoying sweet treats! They have baked goods that are impossible to say no to. I tried their chocolate croissant. They warmed it up to make the chocolate melty and the bread buttery. It was perfectly flakey and the chocolate gave it a boost of flavor! I’ll definitely be back for more as it was filling, sweet and delicious.
One morning here I decided to try one of their egg sandwiches. I ordered the Egg and Veggie and Cheese Sandwich that they made it right in house for me. It was bigger than I expected and tasted homemade. The sauce tasted similar to salsa, but not very spicy. The veggies added all of the best flavors, giving it a boost from just a typical breakfast egg sandwich. If you stumble upon this place with an empty stomach, this Egg and Veggie and Cheese Sandwich will fill you up!
The choices for baked goods is endless! They have everything from bagels, muffins, cinnamon rolls and pastries! Even if you’re stopping in for a quick cup of coffee, the display of baked goods will catch your eye right away at checkout.
