Dr. BBQ The Restaurant (and Burnt Ends Tiki Bar) has closed ending a four year run.

Owned by The Datz Restaurant Group, the restaurant’s 7,935-square-foot building at 1101 Central Ave., was sold to PTM Partners back in August 2022 for $4.5 million. Co-owners Roger and Suzanne Perry of the Datz Restaurant Group leased the building back and continued to operate it until now.

The developer is already invested in the Edge District, where it’s building a mixed-use project known as The Edge Collective which is anchored by the Moxy Hotel from Marriott International. The restaurant’s building is directly adjacent to the development.

Datz Restaurant Group continues to own and operate Datz (in Tampa, St. Pete, and Riverview), Dough, and Donovan’s Meatery in Riverview.

We will have an exclusive interview with Ray Lampe as we relaunch the St. Petersburg Foodies Podcast for just one episode on Friday, December 30, 2022. Stay tuned for more details then.
