Top 5 Places to Get Milkshakes in St. Pete

Think thick, creamy richness and bold flavors and what comes to mind? Milkshakes, of course! Whether your the adventurous or simplistic milkshake enthusiast, I’ve crafted a list of the best places to get a milkshake around the burg.

1. Mini Doughnut Factory
730 4th St N
St. Petersburg, FL 33701
(727) 258-7531
http://www.minidoughnutfactory.com/

The best of both worlds is when doughnuts and ice cream come together. At the Mini Doughnut Factory in St. Pete, milkshakes start with vanilla or chocolate ice cream, three donuts and the ingredients from the main doughnut you pick. I went with a samoa doughnut milkshake and the consistency was just right as each sip is a delicious blend of all the flavors. Definitely the most instagram worthy milkshake in the burg!

2. 2nd & Second
201 2nd Ave N.
St. Petersburg, FL 33701
(727) 440-4700
2ndandsecond.com

2nd & Second takes the typical diner milkshake to the next level by adding complimenting flavors. I was debating between chocolate brownie and cinnamon swirl and decided to go with the cinnamon swirl after the waitress described the taste to be similar to sipping the milk after a bowl of General Mills Cinnamon Toast Crunch Cereal. It absolutely met my expectations and cured my daily sweet needs of the day. I had a sip, and bite, of the chocolate brownie milkshake and it was just as tasty. The brownie bites were gooey and perfectly paired with the creamy chocolate shake.

3. URBAN Creamery
689 Central Ave
St. Petersburg, FL 33701
(727) 895-5953

A simple yet satisfying milkshake, blended to perfection, and sipped quickly can be found at URBAN Creamery. After shopping in the local shops on Central Avenue, be sure to stop in for a treat! Though they are known for their dessert waffles (which are excellent) their milkshakes are just as promising. Of their handmade ice cream flavors of the day, I got Cookies + Cream and Vanilla Bean for a refreshing, creamy milkshake. The “happy thoughts coming your way” is a sign to fill your sweet tooth craving at URBAN Creamery with a milkshake!

4. Dairy Inn
1201 Dr M.L.K. Jr St N.
St. Petersburg, FL 33701
(727) 822-6971

A classic ice cream joint that many locals already know about is Dairy Inn. Their milkshakes start with vanilla soft serve but the customizations are endless with choices like mocha, strawberry banana, coffee chip, butterscotch and so on. You can also add any toppings imaginable. The regular size is big enough for two people but no one will judge you if you down the entire shake by yourself (guilty!). I got the chocolate peanut butter milkshake with chocolate chips. The thickness was just right but a spoon is needed to scoop the chocolate chips from the bottom once your nearing the end. Overall a great treat when you’re with a group of people where everyone has a different favorite flavor of ice cream.

5. ANNEX 400 Beach
400 Beach Dr NE,
St. Petersburg, FL 33701
(727) 896-4400
https://www.gotosteves.com/

After all of the crazy milkshakes I’ve tried, I was glad to find a simple soft serve blend. ANNEX on Beach Drive is a fun, unique and bright cafe that has food, drinks, dessert, local art and souvenirs. For those who like to play it safe when it comes to milkshakes, ANNEX is for you! They offer chocolate, vanilla and strawberry soft serve milkshakes topped with light and fluffy whipped cream. Take your shake across the street and stroll along the Bay for a perfect view!

    • Hi Debbie! Though Culver’s has great shakes and food, I only included local businesses in St. Pete on my top 5 list.

    • I hope you enjoy the milkshake as much as I did! It was a perfect treat in this summer heat!
