St. Petersburg Foodies Appointed Judges for Chili Cook-Off

The Grand Central District is planning their 12th Annual Chili Cook-off for Saturday, February 18, 2017, from 12 – 4 pm.

Kevin Godbee & Lori Brown, Co-Founders of
St. Petersburg Foodies to Be Judges

To enter your chili and be a contestant is FREE. You need to make at least 3-gallons of chili to enter. To be a chili taster, the tickets for adults are $15 (in advance), and for children it is $10. The proceeds will go directly to the Design Committee’s initiatives to beautify and light the Grand Central District Association—one of the oldest mixed use areas in the City of St. Petersburg.

At press time, there are 24 chilis entered (they are aiming for 20 – 30) and they anticipate they will get a couple more.  There will be street vendors with artists, and tasty treats from Urban Creamery. Noisemakers / School of Rock will offer music by kids throughout the event. The GCD is currently seeking kid friendly vendors for face painting, hair wrapping, and other similar fun activities for kids.

Two of the chili-tasting judges will be St. Petersburg Foodies Co-Founders, Kevin Godbee and Lori Brown.

Participating restaurants will give $1 off on beer, wine and liquor as well. Tickets are $15 in advance and $20 the day of the event. $10 for kids 12 and under.

Prizes: The individual (non-restaurant) winner receives $100. The winning restaurant gets a write-up in St. Petersburg Foodies, and Creative Loafing.
