Sweet Stack Shack Review October 2018

Just when you thought downtown St. Petersburg already had every variety of dessert spots, Sweet Stack Shack popped up on Central Ave with delicious and unique homemade ice cream sandwiches. It’s a dessert like no other since you get two sweets instead of one: cookies and ice cream. The tropical atmosphere brings a laid back and stress free vibe to the bustling downtown area with something for everyone and the absolute nicest workers around!

Why settle with just one cookie or scoop of ice cream when you can have it all together and customized exactly to your liking? Sweet Stack Shack allows you to pick all of your favorites to create a giant ice cream sandwich. What better way to sit back and relax, than with a sweet treat that you design yourself? They bake the cookies and brownies in house daily and source their ice cream from a Florida local, Working Cow, to ensure a fresh and delightful taste. If you’re just a simple gal or pal, you can always order cookies, brownies or ice cream alone.

First, you pick your bases for the sandwich. There are 7 cookies and 1 brownie to choose from. You have the option to mix and match if you just can’t pick one. Their cookies are firm to hold the sandwich together and not too sweet so the flavors of the cookie don’t clash with the ice cream.

Then, you pick your ice cream! Sweet Stack Shack is already getting the hang of St. Pete and keeping it local by sourcing ice cream from Working Cow Homemade Ice Cream located right here in the burg. Let me tell you…. The ice cream alone was so creamy and one of a kind. Working Cow makes their ice cream locally, using dairies and ingredients grown by sustainable farming right here in Florida.

As if the ice cream and cookies weren’t enough, you can also add a topping that will coat the sides of your ice cream sandwich. You’re able to get creative with Captain Crunch or Fruit Loops, or keep it simple with Chocolate Chips or Sprinkles. Again, the possibilities are endless!

So you’re ice cream sandwich has all of your favorites! The last step is to hot press the sandwich, making the cookies/brownies warm but keeping the ice cream cold. I definitely recommend pressing your sandwich if you like that hot and cold combo.

You might be wondering how you would eat this very large ice cream sandwich, and well you have two options. One, dive right in and expect a messy, delicious experience. Or two, take the safe route with a spoon to make easy bites. Either way, once you indulge in your specialty ice cream sandwich, you won’t mind a mess!
