Breaking News: Cafe Ponte to Shutter its Doors For Good…

The iconic Cafe Ponte, opened by Chef Chris Ponte in 2002, has closed its doors for good. When they shut down “for the foreseeable future” on March 17, 2020 due to COVID-19, they did not know they would never reopen, however Chef Chris has since made that very tough decision. This news will be a huge blow to many of its very loyal fans and staff.

Chef Chris is choosing to shift his focus to his newest concept, Olivia, which opened on November 27th, 2019 in Tampa. Olivia is a chic restaurant that focuses on modern Italian cuisine. It opened to great acclaim, including our own. We were blown away by the decor, service and most importantly the food.

Many will mourn and miss the 18 year old Cafe Ponte, as will we. Thank you Chef Chris for a great run and we wish you the best with your two Tampa concepts. Chef also opened On Swann in Tampa in May 2016.
