When I was growing up my grandma used to cook and bake all of the time.  I was the baker in the family along with Grandma.  Before she passed away, she hand wrote her recipes for me and I am going to share them with you.  Some of them are left up for interpretation so I will do my best.

Grandma Brown's Butterscotch Pie

Butterscotch is one of the few flavors that completely takes me back to being a kid. This pie is absolutely scrumptious!

Ingredients
  

  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1 1/4 cup milk
  • 2 tbsp all purpose flour
  • 2 large egg yolks
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla
  • 1 baked pie crust
  • whipping cream

Instructions
 

  • Brown butter in a skillet - this is important for the flavor.

  • Add brown sugar and milk.
  • Next add a thickening of flour and egg yolks combined.
  • Cook until thick.
  • Add vanilla.
  • Pour in pie shell and top with whipping cream.
