Downtown St. Pete’s largest Kentucky Derby Party is returning to Intermezzo Coffee & Cocktails on Saturday, May 4, from 4 p.m. - 8 p.m. Guests will enjoy a live projection of the race at Churchill Downs, a mint julep bar in addition to the full-service bar, and a raw bar featuring oysters from Modern Brine.
Attendees are encouraged to come in Derby attire, as a contest will be held for Best Derby Hat, Best Derby Dog, Best Outfit for Women, and Best Outfit for Men. Prizes include baskets full of items gifted from St. Pete’s favorite local businesses, like Green Bench Brewing, Ashe Couture, Matter of Fact, Made Coffee, Misred, and more.
“We have a few signature events that folks have come to look forward to since we opened two years ago, and the Derby party is definitely one of them,” said Owner Jarrett Sabatini. “We’ve found that people love having a reason to get dressed up and not feel out of place, but instead be celebrated for it, and we’re happy to give it to them.”
The event is free of admission, and being sponsored by Old Forester. Local bluegrass band, Boxcar Hollow, will be playing live music as well. For those interested in more information, they can visit the Facebook event page here.
Intermezzo’s Derby Party comes on the heels of its rebrand and substantial changes to the physical space. A new mid-century modern inspired bar design was recently installed, and increased seating in the form of banquets and lighting upgrades throughout are all coming soon. These modifications are part of Sabatini’s efforts to double-down on the lounge’s cocktail program and increase seating.
Intermezzo is a specialty coffee shop and craft cocktail lounge.
