The Sugar Shack has been open for three weeks in the up and coming 100 Block of MLK Jr St N. It is quickly gaining traction and notoriety by lovers of Key West and Kermitt's famous Chocolate Dipped Key Lime Pie on a Stick. The Sugar Shack is one of the few places throughout the southeast where you can get Kermitt's treats outside of Key West.
The Sugar Shack is owned by Ricky "Ravioli" (name given to him by Joey "Meatballs" Zugu) and his wife Stephanie Marie Warwick. I conducted an exclusive interview with Ricky on Friday morning, the 16th of September (audio available below). They are a very ambitious couple with a lot on their plate. They have three children, own several Greyhound bus stations, opened The Sugar Shack three weeks ago and just took the reigns over from Joey "Meatballs" as the new owners of Chi-Town Beefs and Dogs.
The Sugar Shack is so much more than just sweets and treats. They also carry hot sauces, marinades and sun products by Sun Bum, a new high quality lifestyle brand of sun care products specifically formulated for people who live and love in the sun.
While the highlight of their sweets and treats offerings is the Kermitt's line of Key Lime Pie, Chocolate Dipped Key Lime Pie on a Stick and many of their other name brands, they also carry Working Cow hand-dipped ice cream in your choice of cone or cup and Le' Ann's Cheesecakes in a jar...dangerous! And they are looking to expand into other retro candy options as well.
Afternoon sweet tooth, or anytime of day for that matter, The Sugar Shack has you covered with quick treats that definitely beat this Florida heat!
