Former Owner of Bowled Opening Slō Restaurant in the Old China City Location

Former owner of Bowled restaurant, Michael Cecere, just signed a lease today to take over the former China City space at 1221 4th St N where he plans to open his new concept, Slō restaurant. As the name implies, the menu will feature slow cooked meats and dishes.  A totally different concept than anything we have in St Petersburg currently. Because all of the food will be cooked in slow cookers and will have been cooking for one to two days, meals can be served very quickly. He is also working on a full liquor license.

The China City space, a St Petersburg landmark on 4th Street for over 61 years, has been vacant for nearly two years. Cecere plans to “gut it down to the bones and completely reinvent the space.” He anticipates construction will last three to four months. All of the contractors are lined up and he hopes for an early start permit by next week.

Cecere plans to light up the patio and create a “vibrant neighborhood spot” in this fantastic 4th St N location. Stay tuned for his big January grand opening plans.
